Darksiders mixes prototype, god of war, zelda, and a little bit of portal all into one game and does it successfully.

Darksiders is basically 4 games mashed into one with some pretty cool graphics. It's a lot like prototype from throwing cars to the 3 way battles. Darksiders is a lot like Zelda in that the dungeons were mostly puzzle based as well as the bosses. The combat, riding on enemies, double jump flying, and the wall climbing/platforming felt a lot like god of war. It also had a dungeon in which the puzzles were very similar to portal. One thing that was weird is that the beginning of the game is very deceiving, in that the rest of the game becomes more puzzle than action.

Now what I liked most about Darksiders were the boss fights. All of the fights had a different puzzle to them, and even the sub-bosses were pretty unique.

I really liked the story, the cutscenes and the graphics as well. The ending of the game was definitely worth the playthrough and the introduction of the game got me interested from the get go. The dungeons all looked pretty awesome and I enjoyed many of the puzzles.

The lock on was very convenient and worked well in all combat situations, absolutely no camera issues, and that's because the lock on always centered the enemy and made it look better as well.

What I disliked about the game.
First and foremost, the jump button! I'm not a noob what-so-ever when it comes to platforming/beat-em-up type games, but this jump button felt lagged. It made the entire game feel more clunky when everything else felt fluid (like scaling walls, and wall running/jumping).

The dialogue was pretty cheesy and I didn't really like the overall theme but I tried to keep in mind that it was inspired by a comic book.

Also, I dislike gathering in the endgame and it just felt so tedious after the last dungeon. I got lost when I fell through the ground into a dungeon and it took me a lot longer than it should have, but it just irritated me that I had to do it in the first place.

The difficulty combat-wise was SO easy even on apocalyptic mode. I was expecting to be frustrated mainly from the combat, but I was surprised at how easy it actually was.

I feel weird saying this as I love when games are nonstop action, but I felt the introduction was too action-packed for the rest of the game. When you started the first dungeon, the game slowed down considerably. I really thought it was going to be constantly chaos like prototype which I was probably wrong to think that in the first place.

overall I enjoyed the game and I'm definitely excited for a 2nd one.
