The 2010 gaming year kicks off with one of the most memorable games I have played.

User Rating: 8.5 | Darksiders X360
Darksiders is a 3rd person action game very similar to games such as God of War and Devil May Cry. This isn't a cheesy attempt at a clone, but this is a well thought out, and well done game that most will find very very satisfying. Our hero War, (Yes his name is War) is one of the four horsemen and basically short story short, does something unhonorable and is essentially stripped of his power. But thats right after how the game explains that there is a war between the forces of heaven, and hell. But this is not a fantasy world, this is infact real time and the very first battle is held in the streets of a city with people running away in fear, this also shows how big our hero is. He towers over humans like a peanut to a cookie.

Gameplay: Anyone who is a fan of God of War or Devil May Cry will appreciate this game. It has the creativity of GoW, and the challenge of DMC. Yes, this game has challenge and even on the easiest setting, I found myself dying once or twice in the begining. Diffnately a little learning curve in this game but nothing bad. But also, this is one of the goreiest games out there. You'll cut off arms, heads, legs, impale, and essentially everything to your enemies and this is so ammensly thrilling, even though its the same animation over again. Combat is very simple, just 2 buttons (Secondary and primary weapon) and you will cutting your foes to pieces or such. What I did find saddening is that, there are no quick time events in the game. And its GoW stil, B appears over a enemies head, you run over hit B and you do the finisher. But there is no challenge to it and you ALWAYS will get the button pressed since this ability some how will stop any melee or damage you are taking. Boss battles are just like GoW and they are just as massive in size and gory deaths.

Sound: For once, the voice acting sounds good. The actor of War sounds grizzly like that of Marcus Fenix's and gives him the impression that he really isn't a nice guy. Music pounds in the background while you are attack foes and its a very good sound track over all. Though, sometimes you will hear the SAME saying by War three times in a row, and that really just deroots the feeling of him being a bad***, "I will end you" I will end you" I will end you" I heard a little to much at one point. But over all, kudos to the devs to get a good soundtrack in, sadly it probably won't be noticed by most players who just opt for the killing and not really take the time to listen.

Graphics: Very cartoony charcter design, but its not in anyway bad, infact i feel it adds to the flavor of the game which is to be over the top and just plain fun, while keeping you challenge and sometimes affraid of that fat dude running towards you who looks like he has had to many burritos. The charcter design is very well done here and War is very detailed and so are the enemies, if you can stop to stare and let them kill you. But overall these are very well done graphics and give the game as said before, its sort of flavor.

Overall: 8.8 there are Short commings here and there, but this is definately worth picking up if your a fan of DMC and GoW. But what dragged the score down was the fact that, the devs borrowed HEAVILY from GoW, theres even a sort of grphon riding sequence that carries on a little to long for my liking. Also, some puzzle elements were borrowed, but nothing really to complain about. Again, this is one of the most memorable games I have played. War is a charcter that you won't forget primarly because of his bad***ness. Definately, pick this up now, though if you are unsure, rent it and then be convinced.
