When you look past all the issues that are going to be fixed anyway (officially), you have a masterpiece of a game.

User Rating: 9 | Darksiders II PC
It was hard coming up with a 120 character review deck sentence, so I hope it was confusing enough for you to read my whole review, and I'm reviewing this game for when all the current PC issues will be resolved, because they will, Vigil Games already officially apologized for the bad port and are actively fixing the issues, so without further ado:

Gameplay: Just like the first, Darksiders 2 has flawless gameplay, different weapons spice up the variety, and all of the weapons (which are only your secondary, your primary is always a pair of scythes) have a special charge ability which adds to the flare of the combat. Combos are still in the game, but aren't as big a thing as they were in the first one, this game is more based around just slashing as you go with skill trees and a great new addition.
Skill trees are something we all know and love, and their addition into Darksiders is a rough one at best, there are 2 trees: Necromancer and Harbinger, and each have 3 "mini" trees that all go under 3 abilities you learn as you level up and acquire the 3 abilities in each tree, now here is where the problem I have with the trees lie: The trees themselves are very boring since you have 3 abilities and every other skill only buffs the abilities, but this is only a minor hindrance that won't impede your enjoyment of the game, but the trees in general are a nice accent to this game.
Darksiders 2 is also a lot more RPG like as you have heard, you acquire loot and gold from dead enemies, in a Diablo 3 like way: click, kill, loot, except better. There are also possessed items in the game which you level up by sacrificing other pieces of gear and you level those items up and you can pick which stats you want on them as they level up, which is probably my favourite thing in the entire loot system, it's unique and definitely livens up a rather boring loot system.
This time around however, you could sum up this game in 3 words: Zelda + Metroid Prime, which is good, but as you go through this game you see elements of both and it feels great to reminisce of old games into a great combo of the two. There are dungeons much like Zelda in this open world, Zelda like map, in fact: the world of this game can be best compared to the one in Kingdoms of Amalur, different zones separated by narrow hallways, and different "tiers" of regions as the story goes along.

Story: Here is where most people are afraid of, and I wouldn't blame you, since the first game's story was pretty terrible, but I have some good news for you. Darksiders 2 story is actually really good, and every element of it. Characters all have their own personalities that you will come to like, and Death in particular is a great bada$$ protagonist, he talks with this "I don't care about you" bane-like voice but his writing just flows perfectly, even minor characters like a Maker you meet in the beginning named Karn has his own personality that's funny and unique. All in all, the story is something that, if you choose to listen, will not disappoint, especially character design.

Graphics: Now hear me out here, yes the PC port has VERY bad textures at the moment, but that is being fixed in a future patch, plus, graphics are never something you should judge a game for, now, fidelity wise, yes the game has very bad graphics, BUT, the ART DESIGN of this game is probably one of the best art designs I have seen for a game in a long time. Vast landscapes, giant monuments, varied environments, these all look amazing in this brilliant art design the game designers knew exactly what they wanted their game to look like.

This is definitely a game you should pick up, PC or not, it's a good game, and when you look past the poor textures and rather poorly made PC interface, AT THE TIME OF WRITING, this is a great game that will not be forgotten. Inspiration from God of War and Zelda, with (I'm going to assume) unintentional hints of Metroid Prime make this game a great purchase if your looking for your action / rpg fix. Vigil and THQ definitely deserve something for a company that has been struggling recently and tries to make a comeback with an astounding game.
