Don't believe the hype ! Could have been so much better

I bought this title for £50 on the day of release November 2020 It was unplayable. 6 patches later in January 2021 it can now be played. This game has been so massively overhyped in the last 2 years it is unsurprising many are disappointed and seeking refunds. Heck even Playstation removed the game from its store it was so buggy and unplayable.

The best thing about this game is its story which is intriguing and makes you want to keep playing. I found it much more engaging than GTA V. That said there is a lot in this game that is pretty bad. The AI is awful, NPC'S aimlessly walking around bumping into each other and facing the wrong way during combat. The game is quite slow and there are frequent long unnecessary conversations with npc's, unnecessary passenger car journeys and going up and down in slow lifts which just feel like time fillers. There are far too frequent unnecessary messages and phone calls while you're playing.

The graphics aren't all they are cracked up to be and there are much better looking games around. The game is very poorly optimised and I'm lucky to get 30 fps at 4k - droppping the resolution down to 1080p I can play all settings ultra and ghet 60fps. The art style is gaudy with awful neon pink blue and mustard yelow everywhere. Keymaping is bad with some keys not capable of being bound, keybinds losing their settings and keybinds having double binds to 2 different actions etc.

Combat is clunky and terrible - the enemies are bullet sponges like destiny 2, you have to shoot an enemy 50 times in the head, they then fall to the ground and get back up and you have to keep shooting until they are finally dead. Then about a quarter of the way through you get a sniper rifle which is ridiculously over powered and you can one shot any enemy, so subsequent weapons you pick up aren't worth using. It really feels like a game from 20 years ago, not the latest innovative futuristic rpg shooter

This roleplaying game is dialog heavy and the dialog is pretty bad. Often its difficult to understand what they are saying due to the in-game "street speak slang". The soundtrack is pretty good but the game drives me mad with the constant "walk, don't walk" in the background from pedestrian crossings

The UI is terrible and non-intuative

While this sounds like a negative review, I want to keep playing to see how the story pans out, but this game has been so ridiculously overhyped,it really is nothing special, nothing innovative and already seen and done that. However despite all the above I am really enjoying this game and have put hours into it, BUT, it could have been so, so much better

Essentially CP is a cross between GTA V and Watchdogs (due to all the hacking that has to be done). To sum up, great story but everything else leaves a lot to be desired. The 7 year old GTA V is a far better game technically. No doubt more patches will come but really it's a bargain bin title if only for the bad combat and poor optimisation.

The game is also quite short - I want to keep playing but once the main quest and side missions are done, theres nothing left to do. The lack of content is glaring
