Finished angry birds? Cut the Rope should be your next port of call!
No denying it, Angry Birds has been hugely successful; it has charm, good physics, challenging gameplay which all makes it a highly addictive game. I've now sorted out those pigs until another update comes along, so I needed to play something else. I found this in the recommended section on the app store, before it started it's ascent on the charts.
The game is similar to Angry Birds in many ways. You start with the basics and it gradually adds more challenges to put in your way, such as timed stars and spiders, and moving ropes. The object of the game is to collect stars with your candy and feed the candy to the cute little pet... thing. Like angry birds, there is a 3 star system for scoring.
It starts off very simple, just cut the rope. Then it progresses to become more difficult, so that you have to get the timing perfect to gain full momentum of the candy. I completed the game within a day of downloading it, around 100 levels I believe. So, the game is definitely addicting.
I think the game succeeds because, like with angry birds, you can pass a level, but still improve your score and get the all important 3 stars. My tactic was to attempt the 3 stars for each level and then move on, unless it was too challenging and I would then come back to it. It makes you want to come back for more.
The only problem I had with Cut the Rope was that it was too easy. Most levels could be completed in one try. Even more of the levels could be understood in the first try, and it would just take a few more attempts to implement the method of completing the level. The game is too linear, there is only one way you can get the 3 stars for most levels. With Angry Birds, you can attempt it however you like (How many times have you watched an angry birds 3 star walkthrough and found you could get the 3 stars easier another way?).
However, it is still addicting and highly recommended by me. I look forward to the next update which will feature more levels. It's not as good as Angry Birds, but it is so so close.
