If you're looking for a quick action hit for a couple of days, this should satisfy.

User Rating: 6.6 | CT Special Forces GBA
CT Special Forces is a 2D Action game which consists of running around with a Machine Gun, Rocket Launcher, Flamethrower, Grenades, Grappling Hooks, Parachutes, and of course, let’s not forget the pair of trusty handcuffs. The objective follows a somewhat weak storyline of running around and destroying whatever terrorists you can find.

Gameplay is good. Comparisons have been made to Metal Slug, and those comparisons are true – the game is a lot like Metal Slug, and Metal Slug lovers will adapt very easily. Levels are like mazes – although there is only one way, it is often hard to find it and it will test your patience.

Characters are cartoony, and backgrounds are rendered nicely, just like Metal Slug. Everything blends well together. However, sometimes problems with the tiles can be found with visible different shades in one tile right next to a correctly shaded one. These a prominent in the jungle, but are few at best.

This is the downside. There is no problem with the levels, but hordes after hordes of enemies are sent against you in each level apart from the first one. This makes stealth impossible, and makes sure you will always at least get one wound. These guys seem to have more terrorists than the US Army, but of course, you can get past them easily.

Sound is nice, and tunes work well with environments. Weapons can sometimes have a rather annoying buzz.

Controls are very good for the 2D gameplay. However, shooting range is static and it is very difficult to aim up at a target at times. Aiming downwards to the ground is non-existent.

Overall, CT Special Forces is a nice package, but if you’re looking for something with replay value, this is not it.
