The game just feels like fan service because most of the game's experience comes from tying loose ends in the story.

User Rating: 8 | Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII PSP
The Final Fantasy franchise is one known for its immersive stories and its glorious RPG elements. However, FF7: Crisis Core is a game that mutated far out of Square Enix's standards. In its core, Final fantasy 7: Crisis Core is just Square Enix's way of tying loose ends in the plot. The game takes place 4 years before the events of the first game as you play with Zack, the original Cloud, and uncover the origins of Sephiroth, Shinra, and Genesis. It seems Square focused less on gameplay than anything else as the combat system is very uninspired. Don't buy this game if your looking for solid gameplay because most of this game's experience is vested in its story. Honestly, the most memorable parts of the game are its cut-scenes. Crisis core is basically a prequel version of advent children that you can play.

In short, you should only buy this game if your curious to know what happened before final fantasy 7.
