Crazy? More like redundant.

User Rating: 4.8 | Crazy Taxi 3 XBOX
Honestly, this game needs to be called Redundant Taxi because it's completely irrelevant and didn't need to be made. There are zero changes to the Crazy Taxi formula from before, and if there are, I completely missed them. I really just don't understand why this game was made. OK, scratch that. I know exactly why it was made. It was a nice quick way to cash in on a popular franchise that died long ago. Don't get me wrong. I loved the first two Crazy Taxi's on Dreamcast. But they didn't really have much replay value because you had to force yourself to even finish it once. It's a franchise that should have died after the first one. Well, they made the second one and it was a competent game that just added a little more to the gameplay. But after that, I was surprised to hear they were actually making a third. Too bad it turned out like this.

The gameplay is completely unchanged from the previous two Crazy Taxi's. You still have the crazy dash, crazy hop, crazy stop, crazy etc., but it's not enough to keep a game going. Maybe this could be forgivable if they bothered to change the levels. But nnnooooo, they couldn't even do that. There are 3 main courses you can do the arcade mode on, but the problem is that two of them are the same ones from the previous games. Even the people aren't moved around. I used the exact same route I used to run through in the other games. It was pathetic that they couldn't even move the customers around. It sickens me. The third level is apparently modeled after Las Vegas. Well, they fooled me into believing that. It looks nothing like Las Vegas. It doesn't even give you the feel of the place. It just feels like another generic place to run through and pick up people. It was fun years and years ago in the arcade. Now it's boring, repetitive, and pathetic. The other main part of the game is Crazy X. Crazy X consists of around 25 mini-games, all of which are uninteresting. If I remember correctly, these are actually different from the previous games. Some have you knocking a baseball out of the ballpark, some have you destroying UFO's, but all of them are boring.

The graphics are terrible. There is nothing worth looking at in this game. The cars are ugly, the people are ugly, the buildings are ugly. Pretty much everything looks very bad. It still looks like the original game on the Dreamcast, which in case you don't know, that's a bad thing. There really is nothing else to say about the graphics. It looks bad and you won't be impressed.

Oh man, the sound. Even the sound hasn't changed in the game. Yet again, the makers of the game couldn't even put forth the extra effort to at least get new songs. For anyone unfortunate enough to hear the soundtrack in this game, you are still forced to listen to the Offspring over and over and over again. In my opinion, Offspring went downhill quickly. Their first couple of cd's were ok, but after that, they fell off the radar. Unfortunately, it's mainly the new stuff and it sucks hard. Even the little bits of voice acting from the cab drivers and customers are re-used from previous games. None of the sound is worth listening to. You might as well make a mix tape before you play because it'll save you the trouble of finding a pen to jab in your ears.

Overall, if you played the first two Crazy Taxi games, or even just one, I would pass on this game. It's not worth it and you've already seen and heard everything it has to offer. Nothing is changed and it's really despicable that they play it up as an all new game when it's actually more like an expansion pack. This was one of the first games I wanted on the Xbox, but I kept putting if off because there were other games I wanted. Well, I was looking at a list of games that I wanted and there were no more Xbox games besides this one, so I bought it off of Ebay brand new for 20 bucks. What a waste of my money. And what a bad game to pick as my last game for my Xbox. I'm going to do my very best to erase the bad times I had with this game out of my mind and only remember the good times I had with it's predecessors. It's going to be hard since this game has scarred me like none other, but with some effort and perseverance, I'm sure I'll get over it. The bottom line is simply this: stay away from this game unless you have never played the other two Crazy Taxi's.
