Crazy Taxi will drive you crazy but not for the right reasons.

Picture it, The year is 2000 and everyone was grateful that the millennium bug didnt bring aeroplanes down from the sky , didnt cause traffic jams, didnt cause computers to sprout legs and take over the world But most importantly didnt affect my beloved Sega Dreamcast either. Which was brilliant for me as in february 2000 Sega brought out Crazy Taxi- A simple arcade style pick up and play Driving game.

The Game (year 2000 Dreamcast)

You get to be one of four Taxi drivers Whos looks, age and ugliness all vary and one of the drivers is female (well it is the year 2k after all). Whilst they all look different and their taxis looks differ, they all handle exactly the same, making the choice seem pointless.

The basic idea of the game is to pick up passenger and take passenger to destination earning extra dollars to add to the fare as you go by dodging traffic, boosting, drifting and getting air off of jumps. The further away the destination is the higher the set fare is and you will also be given more time added to your clock.
When time runs out its game over. as a famous meerkat once said...... Simples!

Besides this mode you get to do 3 minute, 5 minute and 10 minute challenges Which is exactly the same as the first mode except no time will be added when picking up passengers.

You can do all of these modes on two separate cities (Arcade and Original)

lastly you get to do crazybox mode which sets you different challenges to complete. For example drift for 15 seconds, jump 150 feet, knock down bowling pins etc etc..

The game (year 2010 Xbox 360)

You can unlock a crazy taxi t shirt and hawian shirt for your avatar and Errrrrm ......see Year 2000 Dreamcast.

Yes thats right, its the dreamcast version 10 years later With nothing changed and whilst you may think for 800 mps its still worth a buy (like i did) you may start to realise some games should be left in the past or at least updated. The collisions on this game are awful, the techniques to boost and drift feel arkward and an arrow above your head thats about as useful as Naomi Campbells assistant because you WILL want to chuck your remote at it.

I could forgive all of these things 10 years ago, just like i could forgive people for listening to Britney Spears or Spice girls albums but i just cant forgive them now.

Verdict

As a Retro gamer i couldnt wait to play this again, i had such fond memories but now i realise that with age comes senility, i must of been crazy to love this game ten years ago, you would need to be sectioned if you love it as much today.
