Wow.. What a game!
Crash Bandicoot is a 3D platformer where you play as Crash, a bandicoot who sets off on a journey across islands to rescue his girlfriend from the evil Dr Neo Cortex who is creating an army of mutants to take over the world.
There are plenty of levels which span 3 islands. There are many different kinds of levels including regular platforming courses, boss fights, being chased by a boulder and riding a warthog through the jungle which is very fun. There are also bonus areas and hidden secrets in each level.
As Crash you can run, jump and spin. Its simple but effective. The controls are very easy and you will get used to them very quickly.
The graphics are beautiful. Colourful, cartoony, bright. The scenery is very detailed and imaginative and the characters are interesting and wacky.
Music is awesome. It's simply wonderful. The sound effects are also cool and cartoony. Most of the characters are mute except for a few.
The game itself is rather difficult. At the beginning, it starts easy but as the game progresses it becomes increasingly difficult. There is an optional password system which is useful if you don't have a memory card.
In conclusion, this is really an amazing game. It kicked off the Crash series in a very good way. Startlingly, its sequel somehow managed to surpass it though. However this game is still worth checking out if you haven't played it before.
