Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back is the second installment in the once-great Crash Bandicoot series. And I have to say, it's probably the second-best in the series (after Warped, of course). The story is pretty basic: Crash Bandicoot is sent to find a new battery for his sister Coco's laptop, but ends up walking into a portal to his arch nemesis, Cortex's space station. Once he arrives, Cortex tells Crash that the world is in great peril, and only the crystals can save the world from this danger. So now Crash must collect all 25 crystals and 42 gems to save the world. The game is very fast-paced and fun, and has varied level design. The sound is very catchy, and the graphics were great in 1997. The game is very linear, but just like in Mario, there are many secret areas and alternate paths within the levels. The game also includes a few fun boss fights, albeit a little too easy. In the end, this is a very fun game (even though it's nearly impossible to find in stores.)
