Mod for phenominal Story-FPS Half-Life brings order and strategy to the chaotic multiplayer front: enter Counter-Strike.

Who knew a community conversion mod could bring so much revolution to the modern gaming industry as we know it?

Half-Life: Conter-Strike was released to critical acclaim, earning the modders a spot in the Valve family, and for good reason, too. Counter Strike replaces Half-Life's semi-futuristic weapons into modern-era Spec Ops and Insurgency tools of war, and brings the small, condensed and ultimately chaotic Half-Life Deathmatch maps into a glorious battlefield of immodest size.

The Rules are simple: you go into a scenario of your choosing, usually deemed Hostage Rescue or Bomb Defusal by the server Admin, and pick your side. As a Terrorist, your objectives are to set a bomb at site A or B, protect your Hostages from rescue, and eliminate all of the Counter-Terrorists that aim to end you. The maps all excel with something or another. One map favors the Terrorists, another will favor the Counter-Terrorists, however it is ultimately up to a 5-man team's coordination, quick strategical thinking and itchy trigger fingers to win the day.

The graphics at the point in time this game was released were amazing, working off of Half-Life's high detail level to create a semi-realistic experience, to the point of many foreign police forces using this game as a training tool. However, they almost indefinitely not held up to the test that is time. Although, to be optimistic, this means it can be run on almost any computer, so long as you have ten dollars to spare to actually buy the game, which is now sold as a stand-alone title.

Not to mention that there are over 40,000 servers to play on for the original game, affectionatley referred to as 1.6. The community, like any other one in the world of gaming, ranges from polite and respectful young adults to small children who scream at you for not pulling out your knife like they did when you were the last two left alive. As another perk, this game can be run with quite literally any internet connection you have. Since it's so addicting, you're going to have to steal all of the phones in the house if you still have a Dial-Up Connection.

Overall, this game is absolutely perfect if you're into online shooters, and will keep you busy for a long time to come, no matter how poor it looks(even though there's likely a mod for that).
