More of the same from the first game - some good, some bad.
There is a real lack of enemies and the amount of weapons on offer hasn't increased as much as I'd hoped it would. Without an achievement for not using any guns, it's more interesting to be able to throw in the odd firearm now and again. They're supposed to make the game easier but with most of the enemies too fast to follow with the gun, you just have to wait until they are close up when they don't work so well. This is a shame as the FPS mode could've been brilliant.
The environments improve as the game goes on as they move away from the original game's samey setting of sewers and back alleys. The Magician's Theatre was a big highlight, nearly matching something Bioshock produced. The only problem I'm really finding is that it is often very hard to work out what to do. The original game was very linear but that helps this type of game, the sequel is similar but there are so many dead ends that it becomes frustrating.
On the whole the second game doesn't reach the heights of the first game - maybe because it's no longer new and fresh or maybe because it's just not as good. The original's not so perfect graphics were definitely something that helps the series. Hopefully the next game won't be quite so dark...
