Conan is a playable game that's good if you really have nothing better to do.

Let me say it up front. I am a huge fan of Conan but this is one of the worst 3D games I have ever played.

Let us first start from the graphics. This game has not aged well, it can be seen from the very sloppy and grainy textures used in the game. The 3D models really really lack polygons, so Conan looks pretty rough around the edges. I've seen a few decent special effects(snow and water) but other than that, the graphics are seriously lacking.

The gameplay, especially the combo system is reasonable. The combo system is quite fun; however, what I find seriously irritating is the lack of a good interface system. I have to scroll down about 100 skills all the way to the bottom, just so that I can get Barbarian Constitution. This is really silly and it shows that the developers are not doing their job streamlining the interface. Conan is supposed to a fleet flooted barbarian, but in this game, he plays more like a sherman tank. He's slow and his jump animation is really poorly rendered. He doesn't feel agile at all. I'm not expecting Prince of Persia agility, but minimally, he should handle well.

The story so far is pretty interesting. The cutscenes are well narrated(albeit a little long) and the story seems to unfold pretty well. The biggest gripe I have about the game, is the camera. It changes around and flops around aimlessly. This is really jarring at times.

Overall, Conan is worth playing, especially so if you are a fan. It's one of the lousiest 3D games I've ever played, but hey, who wouldn't want to live out his adventures at Conan. But in the wake of Star Wars: Empires at Wall and Marc Ecko: Contents under Pressure, and LOTR 2 coming out, I would recommend that you try out those games instead. This one is only worth renting if you're a die hard fan.
