If you think this game is solid as Conan himself, then you are mistaken...

User Rating: 3.4 | Conan PS2
Most avid comic book fans would be familiar with the name Conan, but after you have played this game you probably wished that you don't know anything about it because the more you know about this character the more easily you can pick up the horrible bugs in this game. Controls and game-play: Controls are sluggish and poorly coordinated. In the defensive stance you can only stand rooted to the ground while Conan swings his sword/weapon right or left to defend against an attack. Character movement is painfully slow though we all know for sure that Conan is huge(referred to as the "Giant" in many books) but anatomically the hero should be more agile in terms of swinging his arms because that is what we want the Biceps and Deltoid muscles for right? Sad to say that they make Conan's movement appear very heavy and it is not interesting at all to see the way he runs, looking as if his Gluteus muscles got cramped somehow. The only stylish part is when he draws out his weapon and this adds minimal credit to the controls. You pick up items by running through them (Which makes this entire game look like old-age kiddo stuff) Conan looks like a monkey when he is climbing a wall. Graphics: Very poor considering the fact that nowadays there are so many dashing and shiny games on the shelves. It is almost a norm that most games should have impressive graphics; what is the use of buying the game to get eye-sores and pain? Conan looks very polygonal and everything else in the game looks like rectangles or squares for that matter. Weather changes such as the storm are over-exaggerated… You can't see anything other than the snow flakes and this is a minus when you try to maneuver your character around. Then and again water in the stream looks like an ice cube from your fridge. When your character walks close to a wall you will see some very disturbing black polygonal shadows which should not have been there. One would not expect Conan to be cute and charming but at least he should have a better engineered face and body in this game. Story: Good story-line, but not enough to compensate for other major bugs in the game. Story narration is good but it gives you a sense of whining. The designers probably wanted to make it more dramatic by dragging the narration and other cut scenes( For example when Conan rushes to his village there are almost 4 or 5 times of still motion caption of the horse and Conan, all in some peculiar camera angles) but in the end it just gives you a sense of exaggeration. Sound: Good orchestrate BGM, sound effect is acceptable, and voice acting is fair. No other comments In short: Frankly if you ask me I would say stay away from this game, but again there are other gamers out there who might like the dramatic events in this game and the RPG element that is present. Make sure you rent it before you decide...
