The ultimate "feel-good" RTS game.

User Rating: 9.5 | Command & Conquer: Red Alert 2 PC
C&C: Red Alert 2 was the first C&C series game I played, and I admit that while the premise of the game sounded corny at first, after the first few scenarios I was hooked. Not only is the game's story delivered with tongue firmly planted in cheek, but it actually draws you in as you progress through each scenario. The live-action cut scenes are over the top, but fit in well with the overall theme of Red Alert 2. And of course, the alternate world weapons employed by both the Soviets and the Americans are varied enough to offer a good variety and challenge. Yet the thing that stands out most about this game are the little things -- for example, I never got tired of hearing the Soviet troops shouting their Communist Party-line slogans, since they were more comical than threatening. And who could resist a scenario where the player must use Tanya to single-handedly defeat an entire base? Yet for all of it's semi-comic aspects, Red Alert 2 remains a solid RTS game, and an engaging PC experience. While you will be amused by the game's outrageous story twists, you'll also get a challenging game, as well. With Red Alert 2, the combination of outstanding game play and endearing personality make this a must-play classic.
