Saving the Best for Last!
1) Shot Button as Good as the Shot Stick - In 2k6, if you didn't use the shot stick (and used the traditional shot button), the player might make in "inappropriate shot" (shot a jumper on a fast break) instead of driving for a layup. No more! The traditional shot is more intuitive to the cicumstances; even manuevering around players when making layups.
2) No More Outrageous And 1 Plays - In 2k6, And 1 (Fouled while Shooting) plays were called left and right. This is tapered in the 2k7 version and more realistic.
3) Appropriate Passing - If you purchased NBA 2k6 & 2k7 for the XBOX you might have noticed that the passing mechanics are improved in the 2k7 version. Players (esp. those with a good passing rating) will typically make passes in accordance to the situation. If a player in the post is signaling for a lob pass... the player will throw the lob pass. If a mid-air pass is appropriate to get the ball over the head of the defender... the player will throw the mid-air pass without you having to pass out of a jump shot. In 2k6, players typically made the most direct pass, instead of the most appropriate pass.
4) Defense - A. Stealing: The defense is also more realistic in this edition. While I admire the pursuit of the developers to make a challenging title, in 2k6, you could never get a pass near the half-court line without it being intercepted. In 2k7, you can actually pass the ball from inbounds to about a 1/4 of the way up court. However, don't be careless! If the press is on, they will intercept the pass from time to time (like in real life!).
B. Blocks: The blocks are also more realistic and intuitive in this title. You can actually pin shots again the backboard. You can also "steal someone's thunder" on dunk attempts (Sidebar: This 6'2" player [player shall remain nameless out of respect for his family, girlfriend and scholarship... j/k] tried to dunk on Greg Oden (Ohio State - Future NBA Lottery Pick) in the game... bad idea... Palmed his dunk with one hand!).
5) Overall - It is 2k6, with Enhanced Gameplay and Updated Rosters. If you are a fan of the series, you will enjoy this game. And for the price of $19.99... you can't go wrong! Definately a good buy!
