Like Bolton Wanderers, this game may not be pretty on the eye, but my word is it brilliant.

When Championship Manager was first invented back in the early 1990s, the simple idea of text based football action took such a hold that the series has seduced almost every computer savvy football fan, cost offices hours in days taken off work, and entered British footballing culture as a by-word for the much loved "Fantasy Football" we all dream of.

While the Championship Manager series may have split off in two directions since the days of 2001/02, and the descriptions of your star striker belting it in from 30 yards have become fully fledged 3D animations, the rustic charm of this incredibly bland interface will never be forgotten. The simplicity in its design made playing this deceptively complex game an easy, and addictive process. With its famed database of thousands of clubs and players, painstakingly researched by hundreds of volunteers, SI Games proudced an enduring game, and the evidence of this can be seen in their predictions of players careers. For example, in all my games Ronaldinho became the world's best player, a year before he starred at the World Cup in Japan/South Korea.

Championship Manager 2001/02 is certainly outdated, but its memories live on, and once you have played 23 seasons you would hardly notice that you started 6 years back in time!
