Fun racing game that distances itself from the norm...

User Rating: 9.2 | CART World Series PS
Let me begin this review that I am a racing game fanatic. It started when I experienced the amazing physics of Sierra's NASCAR Racing (1994), and it has continued with EA Sports' not-as-astounding NASCAR 98-200* series. CART World Series, a game based on the Indy car series that experienced its greatest success in the late 90's, truly flourishes on its own with a physics engine that will keep you coming back for more.

You can choose to drive as any driver from the 1997 CART (now Champ Car World Series) season, ranging from Alex Zanardi to Paul Tracy, or Raul Boesel to the late, great Greg Moore. You can also create your own driver, and use him to go through the various Arcade and Simulation modes.

Whether you just want an Arcade-style race with a friend or a Simulation of a full season of races, it's there for you to explore. The controls for both modes differ greatly, but as a hardcore racer, I prefer the intensity of the Simulation mode.

My only qualm about this game is that not all tracks are in the game, and that not all drivers make the show, either. It safe to say, however, that this game is a rare gem that I believe people need to take a look at... whether you like a good sim or you just want to see awesome wrecks, this game is worth a buy if you can find it.
