A surprisingly good CoD game.

User Rating: 8 | Call of Duty: Black Ops PS3
This game is my first foray into the Call of Duty universe, and I must say; I'm pretty impressed. I came into this game with somewhat low expectations and Treyarch managed to blow them out of water.

Gameplay: 8.5

The game play is fast paced (especially in multi-player), but the controls are well placed. This is a review for the Ps3 version and CoD is a multi platform game, so I feel that it's worth noting that the aim and trigger buttons are on L1/R1 respectively, as they properly should be.

Difficulty: 10

This game has a ton of difficulty settings so you can find one that is just right for your style of play, whether that be super difficult or very casual. A feature I really enjoyed is that you can start out on the hardest difficulty and move the difficulty setting down in game as you become frustrated on certain parts.

Stability: 9

Overall the stability seems very good, I didn't notice any glitches at all durning the single player campaign. There are occasional glitches on the multi-player, but nothing beyond what is generally expected in a part of a game dealing with internet connections.

Story: 7

The Story is probably what surprised me the most in this game, while it was short it was well written, had a good plot twist and an ending that was left up to interpretation. I wasn't expecting quite such an in depth and engaging story from a Call of Duty game. Overall I'd say it was really well done, but it does lose some points on length.

Graphics: 8

Pretty average for your modern fare. Nothing spectacular, but everything looked about like what you would expect from a modern fps on console.

Re-playability: 9

I would give the single player in this game a very low Re-playability rating, but it is saved by the tremendous amount of re-playability on the multiplayer side of the fence.

Multi-player: 9.5

While very different in feel from the single player campaign the multi-player is the reason to get this game. It's fun, there's plenty of classes, weapons and customizability and the ranking up system keeps you engaged in the game. The selection of maps is somewhat limited, but they are all very good maps.
