This game could have been a great single player action-thriller. If only the game makers thought so too.

There's not much to say with Call of Cthulhu that you won't hear from the guy selling you the used game. Just like the box indicates, this game has the potential to be a really great action-thriller. The plot borrows itself from an epic story written and told over 50 years ago. The antagonist has been used and reitterated many times over as though it were an actual mythos rather than sci-fi creature. The potential of this story has basically been noticed and capitolized on already with great success. So why then does this game fail so miserably?

GAMEPLAY. There's not a whole lot that can be said for a game without playability. Glitches and poor programming are a good game's worst enemy. No matter how superb a storyline or plot, it's difficult to justify replaying or even continuing to play a game that cannot reward skill with advancement or even a basic entertainment value. Single player games are without a doubt my favorite genre of game. They immerse you in the world they portray, in ways that ONLY novels can. I even felt the excitement and bewilderment that one feels when witnessing a great game for the first time. Similar to the original Halo, Oblivion, or even the first Bioshock. That feeling of being in the pressense of greatness was soon lost on me. Kinda like finding out the teacher you idolized in highschool, got hauled away for child molestation after you graduated.

This game is dark. So dark in fact that any Television made more than 5 years ago may not allow you to even witness what's going on. This game will only appear playable on the best of my 3 Televisions(all hi-def). If you can manage to see the game, your inability to progress naturally based on your gaming skills will aggrevate you.

As a matter of fact, the sheer amount of frustration that you'll experience in this game due to poor programming and glitches is enough to make you want to dispose of it so that no one else might be duped into purchasing it as you did. I won't lie. I destroyed mine. Your welcome.
