Lions and Tigers and Bears. Oh My. Action-Hunting Simulator. I dont know what else to call it :)

User Rating: 8.2 | Cabela's Dangerous Hunts Ultimate Challenge PSP
When I downlo... ops sorry, bought this game I expected a regular hunting sim. You know the kind where you crawl around in the bushes and try not to make a sound and after 20 minutes of crawling you shoot the deer. Although elements like this exits in the game the main part of the game is action based hunting, where you are attacked by wolfs or bears and you have to shoot them.

CONTROLS
They take a while getting used to, I still havent masterd them, but once you get it right its pretty good. You walk with the button and look around with the joypad and you have the basic zoom stuff. Pretty basic stuff.

STORY MODE
You have a story mode with 12 missions where you run around with another person and they give you tasks to complete to move the story forward. The first mission you have to save some poor smucks grandson who is lost camping somewhere i Canada and the second mission you crash a plane in africa and you have to find somewhere to camp, so you get to see the world as you play the game which is pretty neat. The story mode works pretty well and the missions are pretty different so far and are quite entertaining. The story is pretty weak so far but it doesnt bother me since its not the kind of game that needs a good story to work.

QUICK ACTION
Besides the Story mode you have something called "Quick Action" where you get a task to complete and no story involved. There can be different subtask like first you have to sneek up on a dear and then you have to survive a wolf attack. Mission time is usually between 10 and 20 minutes for each mission. Even though some mission are pretty much the same only in different parts of the world I think that the Missions are the strong point of the game. The only thing that really bothers me about the missions is that i have not found anywhere that you can see which missions you have completed and stats about them. It doesnt sound like a big deal but this really annoys me.

GRAPHICS
The graphics are pretty decent. Its the the best I have seen on the PSP but then again its far from the worst, its works pretty godd and the CGI before a story mission is well done.

BONUS: MISSION
During story mode you can shoot three stumps and if you shoot enough of them you unlock secret bonus missions. I have not yet unlocked one So I cant tell you much about them. But I love bonus stuff so i cant wait to unlock them.

STUFF THAT ROCK
The best thing about the game is that it feels unique, which is the one thing that most PSP games lack.
Lots of different areas and animals to kill.
The Auto Save works like a charm.

STUFF THAT SUCK
That I can't see which missions I completed.
I would like to have a couple of missions where you just sneak and do some hunting without the action part.
Some missions could really use a map.
I would love if you could collect guns and bring your own gun to mission.

SUMMARY
It's a unique litle game its quite entertaining. If you are looking for a real hunting sim you proboably shouldnt bother. And neither if you are looking for a hardcore fps action game. But if you feel like you need a different kind of game and you like hunting you should give it a try. But I think that you should try out before you buy it cause it might its mix of slow and fast action proboably isn't for everybody.

JONAS THE HUNTER????
Please Dont think I am some kind of hunting nut. I am actually a Vegetarian and I think hunting is a brutal horrible sports that really should banned.
