Fun for diehard hunting game fans.

User Rating: 8 | Cabela's Big Game Hunter PS2
Cabela's Big Game Hunter is the first ever hunting game on the PS2 and it sure made a successful debut. The controls are very precise and responsive. You have eight areas including Alaska, Texas, British Colombia and Alberta and approximately 27 animals from whitetail, elk, moose, wolf and others. Among other features include trophy beacons, which represents animal as red dots and turn blue when an animal is killed and a bullet cam that allows you to see the path the bullet or arrow. But with all this fun, there come a cost. The game's AI is very irritating. While it's mostly realistic, it can be ridiculously tough just to get close with an animal. What's even more ridiculous is that animals can sense even if you are behind a large hill.

The graphics are pretty good. The areas are huge, but the game doesn't have the world's best draw distance. The animals are fine looking and animate well. The sound may be better than the graphics. The animals have very few sounds, but the wind, footsteps and... that's it.

This is a interesting game and if you have any interest in hunting, you should check it out.
