Colorful, simple and addictive.

User Rating: 9.5 | Pang AMI
In the game Pang you, and possible a friend of yours, are send on a mission to rid the world of bouncing bubbles. Equipped with a portable harpoon and eventually a handy lasergun, you must eliminate the bubbles by shooting them and watching them divide into smaller bubbles by your shots. Eventually they will become small enough to just vanish when hit. Eliminate all the bubbles at a stage and you are on to the next.

The game, released in 1989, came with beautifully drawn backgrounds, maxing the opportunities of the Amiga colorpalette and videoresolution. There are many locations including Mt. Fuji, The Airs Rock in Australia, the Taj Mahal in India, Leningrad, Paris, Egypt and the Maya ruins. Typically there are 3 stages to complete at each location.

To assist the graphics, a catchy soundtrack is provided, with a new melody at each location.... well, that is until you reach London halfway through, then the soundtrack rewinds and you will hear the tune of the opening location that is Mt. Fuji. It is not that the tunes are not suitable to replaying, but a unique theme for each location would seem appropriate.

So? A handful of colorful illustrations of tourist attractions, as well as some bouncing bubbles and a harpoon - doesn't sound like much fun does it?
Well think again. It is incredibly addictive and these dangerous bouncing balls are just ASKING to be popped, you cannot stop.

I sincerely hope that Ocean, now part of Infogrames, will redraw the graphics at High Definition, and optionally remix/rearranged and/or expand the soundtrack for unique tunes for each location. Maybe even add some additional locations like Prague, Beijing, Seoul, Teheran, Montreal and Buenos Aires just to name a few examples. Then pack it together and release it on the PlayStation Network and Xbox Live Arcade.

It is a treat. Play.
