A good game of course, but a real disappointment compared to the previous games.

User Rating: 6 | Burnout Dominator PS2
Ok, so the Burnout series is probably the best street racing game there is (around the same as the Need for Speed titles), but Dominator just didn't really have the "oomph" that the previous games did. The game starts you off with one set of cars, and in order to proceed, winning races will gain you more points, thus unlocking more car types. This proved to be thoroughly annoying since it takes ages to unlock any good-looking cars and we all know, that's all that really counts.
In terms of gameplay, there has been a new Maniac Mode added. This can be fun at first, but after a while, you're going to be screaming and your PlayStation 2 controller will be through the window in rage- all because you can't get that Gold Medal. Equally as frustrating is the new Drift races. They are just like drifts in Need for Speed, except they only last around 20 seconds and involve a lot more swearing. Also, Traffic Attack from Revenge seemed to be a one-off and doesn't now exist. Now prepare for the bombshell- Crash Mode. It's... it's... g... gone... I'm sorry for your loss. Since this was one of the best and distinguishable race modes in the series, it has obviously lost a lot of my (and probably your) satisfaction.
Now we get onto the looks and features. Graphics this time seem pretty average, and maybe even at the same level as Burnout 3: Takedown. They are very bright and flashy but not very detailed. Next, the music on Burnout 3 & Revenge was great. My Chemical Romance, Motion City Soundtrack, Bullet for My Valentine and Fall Out Boy. Maybe some techno but over all, it was a good selection for a racing game. Dominator however, has one Killswitch song and Avril Lavigne's "Girlfriend" in four different languages. Sad.
In the end, I think that Burnout: Dominator is a good game, but if you compare it to the previous two games, it's a total disappointment.
