Popcap has come a long way after releasing Bejewled, which was a big hit. Bookworm is one of their other big titles, and is one of my personal favorites as well. Let's take a look.

When you start up the game, you can play a classic or timed game. A classic game has no time limit so you can match up letters as long as you want, and a timed game, well there is no explicit time limit, but as time passes, red blocks will start to appear and they'll burn down the library if you don't get rid of them.

Let's get into the actual gameplay. You have a board of letters. Your goal is to make words with these letters. To do this you drag your screen across the letters you want to make into a word. When you make a word, you tap the screen and gain points. There are also special tiles like green tiles, which if you make a word with them, you'll gain bonus points. If a red tile appears, you want to get rid of it quickly, because it will burn down your library if it reaches the bottom, which means game over. You can shuffle the tiles by shaking your device, but it will cost you since a red tile will appear.

Eventually the game will give you a bonus word you can write. If you write it, you'll gain tons of points. There are also word books, with special categories. If you write a word in one of the books, then it will go into the book. This gives the game a lot of replayability.

THE VERDICT!

Bookworm is a fun little game. It will keep you occupied for a while. You will enjoy the time you spend making words and racking up points. If this is your type of game, then buy it.
