Bomberman has finally come to XBox Live and boy was it worth the wait. After last year's installment of Bomberman called "Act Zero", I think most people just assumed that the Bomberman franchise was dead. Although it may seem harsh, when you make a game that bad, you got what's coming to you. Well, fortunantely the franchise didn't die. In fact, Hudson (the people who make Bomberman) issued an appology at how poor that game was, and then vowed to go back to Bomberman's roots for it's next game.

At it's roots, Bomberman is a cartoony bombfest. It's that simple. And when the formula is this fun, it makes no sense to change it. For those of you who have never played one of the many Bomberman games, basically the objective is to plant a bomb on the ground and blow stuff up.

This "stuff" can range from blowing up another player to blowing up tiles to paint them into your assigned color, the objective being to have the most painted tiles by the time the game ends. And for the most part, this all goes off without a hitch.

However, this game's true claim to fame will be the online mode. In fact, if you're getting this just for the single player, you are wasting your money. The CPU are smart, but they are no match for the randomness of human players in terms of fun. You'll have tons of costume choices you can mix and match too. Most are locked when you first buy the game, but you can collect orbs in the single player matches to unlock new ones. This sets up for a very unique experience, because you can be anything from pirates to cowboys to the plain Bomberman design.

All in all, if you're looking for a fun online game to waste a few hours a day with, I highly recommend that you add Bomberman Live to your collection of Live Arcade games.
