Another in a long line of "okay" RPGs, this real time strategy RPG is solid but not really special.

User Rating: 6.5 | Blue Dragon Plus DS
I was not a big fan of Blue Dragon on the 360 -- it was good, not great, and I just became bored with it's overall lack of highs, lows, or really anything to pull me in. I was interested to hear how this game -- a sequel to the 360 game but now real-time strategy RPG -- was going to play out. Unfortunately, it's every bit as generic and bland as the 360 iteration.

The good:
1. Real-time strategy gameplay is solid and sometimes involves some nice... well... strategy.
2. Some pretty nicely done cut scenes
3. I found the characters much easier to stomach on the DS -- no voiceovers means none of those annoying generic high pitched whiny anime voices.

The not-so-good:
1. Tiny sprites can be hard to discern in the middle of hotter battles.
2. Many levels are too easy -- you just point all your guys towards each enemy and wait for 2 or 3 minutes for them to kill everyone.
3. Cut scenes have no voice overs, which makes them feel a little flat.
4. Story is pretty useless
5. No real character development or skill trees -- character leveling is done more or less automatically as you play.

As a whole, it was a fun game to spend a couple of evenings with, but ultimately was just very bland and uninspiring. There are just too many great other SRPGs on the DS to spend time with this.
