Too repetitive.

Good

- being able to interact with the environment pretty freely is cool, like standing on objects and stuff.

- the environments were varied. But there were basically only 4. Underground, canyon, lab, and alien world. Each were well made, but for the amount of time spent in both, I was extremely bored after each one.

- lots of different guns to choose from

- movement is quite smooth. Suited for the fast paced action, and numerous enemies.

- saving whenever i wanted was very useful.

Bad

- I was expecting a lot more narrative and character development. I'm already controlling a mute protagonist. Having supporting characters would have helped the narrative. All I got was forgettable security guards and scientists. Monologues from Gordon would have helped, or even some kind of written text. There was nothing.

- for it's time this game was great. But it has aged badly. The platforming puzzles, and FPS does hold a candle to modern DOOM games. I respect it as a pioneer game, but it belongs in a museum. It's a very bland game compared to what's out there today.

- many parts of the game felt like it was dragging on. The puzzles are good, but too much of anything, no matter how good, becomes dull and repetitive. The game didn't know when to end, and move on to the next part.

- scrolling through the guns was annoying. The scroll wheel wasn't invented yet, so it's a factor that contributes to the poor aging.

- there are no hints, no map, no highlighted objects that hints at the objective. Sometimes I'd be interacting with random stuff in the area to see if i can activate something. Sometimes you can't tell which lighted up button in the area is the one you can actually interact with. This happened numerous times, and it gets annoying.
