WiA is a graphically outdated, AI weak, useless game: a waste of time and money!

User Rating: 4 | Birth of America II: Wars in America 1750-1815 PC
Wars in America is a turn based planning with simultaneous turn resolution strategy game, with a strong historical background.
More scenarios are available including 3 large campaigns selectable along a time line from mid' '700 to early '800.

The game is very poor at strategic and operational level while great attention is to be paid after logistic aspects.
Tactical combat is absent: player will not have influence over it at all, but setting some generic parameters influencing troops posture.
Although many different unit types are available, player have almost no chance over units to recruit, reinforcements availability and other planning aspects.
The Military Options have few influence on the economy of scenarios where most units are added by scripted events.

The real logistic challenge in the game is in the preparation of depots, forts and supply mobile units to flank and push forward limited offensives. Weather and wilderness are the main obstacle, far before the enemy.
So if you are looking for some actions and for tactical and strategic challenges you have to search for a different game.

Graphically the game is poor and outdated.
The sound is not better: no real background sounds; short and how quality sounds remark few events and player actions. Game soundtrack is composed from a bunch of marches. The overall sound quality is terrible.

AI is the real problem.
AI evidenced serious limit in the own logistic effort management. As a result best AI armies and fleets are often destroyed by advance in enemy territory unsupported by adequate logistic preparation or are quickly annihilated by winter seasons.
So if you consider that the real challenge is decided at logistic level, there's not challenge at all. That makes of AGEod Wars in America a useless game and a waste of time and money.
