If you owned a NES, you owned Battletoads. This game came out of nowhere to become one of most popular titles for the system. It had great artwork, music/sound and most of all was FUN. Lots of different sections of the game had their own control dynamics, and you never knew what was going to come next. The game is difficult, but worth getting better at. This title really set the precident of quality people have come to expect from Rare. Also very important to mention, is the multiplayer. Not since Contra or Double Dragon did I have as much fun playing a game with a 2nd person watching my back. Also, having that 2nd person there meant that if you died, you wouldn't have to begin again from the start of the level (mind you though, you shared continues and lives, which made the game even harder). Pick this game up, I'd say it's possibly only second to titles like Super Mario Brothers 3 or Zelda.
