battlefield 1942 the first game in the franchise if im correct, the ship to ship combat was really good with a variety of boats, ships,sea vehicles. well this game was hard to see when typing and couldnt really see what kit you choose ,so it was kind of blind sighted like vietnam there were no crosshairs on important/usefull weapons only on knives,blowtourch, wrench,med kit,etc. they could have atleast added crosshairs on the sniper ,instead all the snipers scope was ,was a big circle with nothing on it, well without accuracy its hard to figure out where your shooting,they could have madethe campaign better,and based on history instead of random battles, infact they didnt even have pearl harbour, they also had a vareity of armies such as soveit uniun,US,germany,Britan, and Japan. all with their own vehicles,weapons,etc. well back to the ship to ship combat, some maps were just an island with 2 flags and 2 teams in ships around the island an example of some of the types of ships are submarines, battleships, and aircraft carriers, and some higgins boats, the biggest part of the ship to ship was the ability to drive the ships, you could make the sub dive, undive,etc the only problem with the ship combat was if you got to close to land, about 100 yards ,the ship crashed and was uncrashable so the ship would be stuck and would be constently taking damage from the land,and a good part about the higgins type boats was that you could open and close the front, the air combat was also good in intense the maps were big enough for the aircombat with bombers, fighterbombers, and of course fighters , the bomber was the biggest plane and is really hard to fly with it constently going down ,infact some could say that the plane is to heavy to fly, but as soon as your high in the air it would be easy, Road to Rome expansion pack for battlefield 1942, road to rome added more things then the SWoWW2 expansion
but there is no ship to ship combat and the single player campiagn is exactly the same as the original 1942 game and theres a new army in this ,italy, italy adds another set of vehicles, weapons, etc but the expansion only has about 5 maps or so ,all of them are completely on land and are good for aircombat,still no crosshairs, and not much to say about this game, secret weapons of ww2 an expansion to battlefield 1942, it didnt add much stuff, infact it took more out then it added, they took out all the ship to ship combat, but added more planes,jets, ground vehicles ect, there was also a new kit, but it was hidden ingame, the jetpack, the game wasnt much of an improvement though, it was the same game only without ships, the game didnt add any player helpful objects like crosshairs and things like that, but the vehicles were more random, like for example the german kubelwagen could now go amphbuis, and the AA was now lock on, The US didnt really improve either it was mostly only the german army, well theres not much to say about this expansion either, vietnam was one of the first in the franchise and was probly good in 2001 but now its not as good, the helicopter controls were difficult without a joystick, , well i gotta say the best part of this game was the customization of your characters appearance ,and they could have added some crosshairs on usefull weapons like guns and snipers instead of kinves, bowtourches, wrench ,etc, and they also could have added a campaign, well they have good music in the game but they could have used variety instead of the same song over and over again, now enough of the bad stuff in game ,time for the good stuff, they had some goodaircombat vehicles but the maps were to small for dogfights and other actions with air vehicles ,they didnt have very much boats but there wasnt verymuch maps with water and most of it was ground combat so that makes up for ship combat, and for the kits, they had 4 kits and you could choose 1 of 2 kit items/weapons for every kit, its kinda of bad in the game when your stuck in the middle of no where cause it takes forever to walk some where, and why is battlefield vietnam come in a complete pack of battlefield 1942?, well, i give this a 9
