Would've been awesome...if it wasn't a half hour long.

I picked up Battle Los Angeles on the PS3 Network for ten bucks, and I keep teetering back and forth on whether it was a good deal or not. I keep thinking of other games that I could've gotten for the same price, such as Outland or something, and I wonder if it would've been better just to get one of those instead of this.
Let's talk about the campaign, because that's really the only component of this game. There is no multiplayer or other game modes. A survival mode like firefight in Halo would've been nice, adding a little more bang for your buck to the game. Also, and I'm not sure if this is a glitch or I'm doing something wrong, but when I beat the campaign, I didn't get the trophy that said 'you beat the campiagn' on whatever difficulty. I got to the end where it said 'thanks for playing', and I didn't get the trophy. It also said that there was content unlocked, and when I went to the bonus content section, everything was locked. Some of the items say 'beat the campaign on normal to unlock', which I did, and it was still locked! I also blew two aliens up with a rocket, like it said to do on the trophy, and I didn't get the trophy! The weapons were not varied whatsoever, giving you a M15 like machine gun, a sniper rifle, a rocket launcher, frag grenades, and a 50 cal. machine gun that's mounted on a gun truck. That's not a lot. The aliens are cool, though, shouting out weird noises as you try to blow the heck out of them. They aren't varied either, just like the weapons. You fight aliens, aliens with a turret, and an alien air drone. That's it. The graphics are nice, and it is ever so satisfying to blow up a gas truck and start an awesome chain reaction, having cars and signs all around you explode into flames. The dialogue is extremely cheesy, and the cut scenes look like something from a graphic novel, literally. You need to see the movie first in order to understand the game, because you get hardly no explanation for the characters. You can't even tell which is which unless you look them right in the face. The character Stabro, a human in the game, looks like an alien from the 1980's. But the game is fun, and blowing up aliens non-stop around every corner is awesome. It's not the best shooter on the market, no doubt, but it is bound to entertain sci-fi fans to who want some alien carnage.
