Barrow Hill : Curse Of The Ancient Circle for the PC, is one of the scariest (and entartaining) games i ever played!
Barrow Hill : Curse Of The Ancient Circle, is one of those criticly acclaimed games wich's acclaim was mixed with several UNpositive reviews. And yes, i'm talking about Gamespot's official score - 2.6 / 10. You've gotta be kidding me.
But anyway, let's get on to the game!
***STORY***
The story is preety basic :
You are driving through the woods. When the sun goes down, your car breaks down. You go through the woods and find a Motel\Cafe and find a survivor (Yes, everyone is gone... Creepy D:) that tells you : "something happended, do this, find this, find this guy", etc. Oh, and before i forget : "STAY AWAY FROM THE CIRCLE!"! Muhahahaha!
There are 3 characters in the game, including yourself. You don't get to know your character or even he's or her name. Your character never even speaks.
The story is pretty basic, filled with suspence and mystery and it's a very good story!
Like most Point-And-Click adventure games, there are diffrent endings depending on your action and that you do things right.
***GRAPHICS***
For a Point-And-Click adventure game, the graphics are well done. Well, "done", would be the wrong word. "Rendered' well - would be more correct.
The atmosphere is one it's high rate. What i love about the atmosphere is that it is mainly focused on the sound and no jump scares, exept one - a bird flying from a garbage can. Forget what Brett Todd said. This is probably the only game wich i think is carier than Silent Hill, just as i thought Penumbra : Overture was scary.
You constanly fell tension, sence of urgen and a gut felling of being stalked, due to hearing bushes moving, something walking and moving objects, and what's scary is that you ARE being stalked.
***GAMEPLAY***
It's a Point-And-Click adventure game. Most of the time you will be using your mouse to click and go where you want or can, solve puzzles and guide your lamp when in dark areas or woods.
Puzzles are preety hard. Well, it's hard to find clues to solve the puzzles.
I would say that the game will take from 10 - 20 hours depending on how smart you are. A game gude is well needed in this type of a game.
***ENJOYMENT***
I really enjoyed Barrow Hill : Curse Of The Ancient Circle.
This game will keep you on the edge of your seet for a LONG time.
