Oceanhorn 2: Knights of the Lost Realm originally debuted on Apple Arcade in 2019, but it's now making the jump to Nintendo Switch. Which makes sense, given how heavily it continues to be inspired by one of Nintendo's most popular franchises.

The first Oceanhorn wore its influences on its sleeve, adopting a format like The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds. Its sequel gives you control of its camera perspective and plays more as a standard third-person adventure, with chests to open, enemies to slice with your sword, and dungeons to raid--lLike many Legend of Zelda games before it.

The Legend of Zelda isn't the only game in history to adopt these tropes, but there's no doubting where Oceanhorn 2 draws most of its inspiration from. Its protagonist even wears a light blue tunic with patterning like that found on Link in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.

Despite the similarities, Oceanhorn originally found an audience looking for Zelda-like experiences outside of Nintendo's ecosystem. It's sequel received a lukewarm response, with GameSpot sister site Metacritic settling on 69/100 after seven reviews. Despite that, given how Nintendo isn't talking much about the sequel to Breath of the Wild, Knights of the Lost Realm might be the perfect middle ground to make the wait easier to bear. It's out this coming fall.
