The Legend Of Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom finally releases this week, and it serves as a direct continuation of Breath Of The Wild's story. Given that it's been more than six years since Breath of the Wild released in 2017, you're forgiven if you have some trouble recalling all the details of that game's events. Don't worry, as we have a recap of the game's story for you to enjoy if you're eager to dive in after reading our Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom review.

In the 15-minute video below, narrator Adam Mason explains the events of the game. It all starts with the forming of Calamity Ganon 10,000 years in the past, with four Divine Beasts and an army of Guardian automotons created by the Sheikah helping seal him away. From there, it proceeds to 100 years before the events of Breath of the Wild, and how Link and Zelda worked together with the four champions to prepare for the Great Calamity.

Now Playing: Zelda: Breath of the Wild Full Story Recap

This all leads to the unfortunate downfall of Link, Zelda, and the four champions, with Link being sealed underground for his wounds to heal. 100 years later, Link wakes up and proceeds to explore the post-apocalyptic Hyrule, eventually regaining his memories, defeating the four Divine Beasts, and rebuilding himself to take another shot at Ganon. The game ends with our heroes finally overcoming Calamity Ganon seemingly once and for all, but with the incredible task of rebuilding Hyrule still ahead of them.

It's worth noting that Tears Of The Kingdom has fully leaked and that there are spoilers out there in the wild, so watch out for that. The highly-anticipated game releases this Friday, May 12.
