Microsoft announced today that it has opened preorders for Windows 10 PC games from its own Windows Store. A number of Xbox Play Anywhere games are available to preorder right now, including ReCore, which is the very first Xbox Play Anywhere game, as well as Forza Horizon 3, and Gears of War 4. Apparently, preordering was not available through the Windows Store until today.

Xbox Play Anywhere was announced during Microsoft's E3 briefing in June. It brings together Xbox One and PC like never before, as buying a game once (digitally) on Xbox One gets you a copy of the PC version free or vice versa. Microsoft says this represents a "tremendous value." Additionally, your saves move across platforms, so you can start playing on one device and pick up on the other.

All saves, add-ons, and achievements move across devices. Even if you don't own an Xbox One or Windows 10 PC, you can buy games and they'll be stored in the cloud for you to download later.

As mentioned, ReCore kicks off the Xbox Play Anywhere program. The game releases on September 13 and you can watch its launch trailer here. Forza Horizon 3 launches later in the month, while Gears of War 4 comes out in October.

Looking further ahead, Microsoft's Sea of Thieves, Halo Wars 2, and Scalebound are also Xbox Play Anywhere games. Games not published by Microsoft are also featured in the program, including We Happy Few and Cuphead.
