You can "finish" Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes in 10 minutes
New speedrun video shows game can be "completed" in 10 minutes if you skip side mission content and cutscenes.
One of the most contentious components of Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes leading up to its launch today was its "short" length. An earlier report said its main story could be completed in under two hours, leading some to criticize its $20/$30 price point. Now, Eurogamer has published a (spoiler-heavy) video showing that the entire game can be "completed" in 10 minutes.
Importantly, the speedrunner knows exactly what to do, passes over the side mission content, and skips all the cutscenes. This isn't how you'd normally play a video game for enjoyment.
Metal Gear Solid creator Hideo Kojima weighed in on the Ground Zeroes' length controversy in February, saying the game's non-linear approach means players will find it to have a high degree of replayability.
"GZ offers freedom of approach & play style, which we hope players will enjoy over & over without boring," he said at the time. "I believe people will be satisfied with the 'play time' of GZ and will not stress the 'clear time,' which is a standard for linear games."
Ground Zeroes is the prologue to Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. For more on Ground Zeroes, check out GameSpot's review.
