Microsoft has announced the first of its Xbox games to come to Nintendo Switch (outside of Minecraft), and they are Obsidian's Grounded and Pentiment. Pentiment arrives tomorrow, February 22, while Grounded is headed to Switch on April 16. [Update: Hi-Fi Rush is also coming to PS5, as are both Grounded and Pentiment. Meanwhile, Xbox has confirmed all four games coming to other systems.]

Microsoft recently announced that it would bring four of its games to rival platforms, and Grounded and Pentiment were two of the titles that were rumored. Hi-Fi Rush and Sea of Thieves are the other two that have been rumored for release on competing systems. As of yet, however, there have been no announcements about these two games, or any games for PlayStation.

Nintendo announced the release of Grounded and Pentiment on Switch as part of the February 21 Nintendo Direct Partner Showcase.

Grounded, which was originally released in 2022, is an adventure-survival game described as Honey, I Shrunk the Kids combined with Rust. Like in the movie, you're a small person running around the backyard and trying to survive against giant (to you) insects.

Pentiment, meanwhile, was also released in 2022. It is a role-playing game directed by Obsidian veteran and Fallout: New Vegas director Josh Sawyer.

According to Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer, bringing Xbox games to other platforms is "not a change to our fundamental exclusive strategy." The company is bringing four games to other systems for "specific reasons" and for the overall good of the Xbox ecosystem, he said.
