Just days before the premiere of Game of Thrones Season 6, Microsoft and HBO have teamed up to launch an HBO Now app on Xbox One. You can find it on the console by searching for it in the Xbox Store.

Oddly, it showed up for me (and others) as a $399 download, a price that remains through checkout. This appears to be an error of some kind; we'll continue to look into this and report back with new details.

HBO Now, which is separate from HBO Go, does not require a cable subscription, but is instead available a la carte for $15/month. You can sign up here and get a free month. The service is already available on mobile devices and PC, but a PlayStation 4 version has not yet been released.

Game of Thrones Season 6 starts this coming Sunday, April 24. Check out this roundup of news and trailers to get up to speed before the show kicks off.

In other news about HBO, the content provider has announced everything coming and going for HBO Go and HBO Now for May 2016.
