Xbox Live Running Into Issues Today [UPDATE]

Having issues signing in or playing games online? It's not just you.

Update: After several hours of issues, Microsoft reports that "sign-in, syncing saves, and managing friends should be back to normal." The Xbox Live status page shows all of the earlier issues being resolved, with the only lingering issue involving OneDrive users on Xbox 360.

Original Story: Xbox Live is experiencing issues for Xbox One users today, but Microsoft is already working to resolve them, the company has announced.

As detailed on the Xbox Live status page, several components of Live aren't working properly. Under the "core services" umbrella, signing into Xbox Live and anything involving account management (creating a new one, recovery, and so on) are affected on Xbox One. On the "social and gaming" side, joining other players in online games and accessing data stored in the cloud are both having problems.

The latest update reads, "Our engineers and developers are actively continuing to work to resolve the issue causing some members to have problems signing in to Xbox Live."

A recent tweet from the Xbox Support Twitter account adds, "Our teams are still working hard to get you back to gaming with friends!" It noted in an earlier tweet that it was aware of sign-in and friends list issues.

These issues may not be affecting everyone; at least two of us at GameSpot were able to sign in without issue, although attempting to log in to play a game of Smite presented an issue with syncing cloud data.

We'll report back as we learn more.
