And it's very specific.

Microsoft has released a video providing a closer look at its upcoming Xbox Elite controller, which allows owners to customise how they play by both physically removing inputs and replacing them with alternatives, as well as setting up mapping configurations.

In the video, Xbox's Navin Kumar talks through the mapping profile system, which allows players to save up to 250 configurations in their library. Two of these can then be assigned to a switch on the controller, which is used to flip back and forth between them.

Kumar also shows off how thumbstick sensitivity can be tuned using either pre-built sensitivity curves or by creating new ones. Triggers can also be tweaked for different response times and to introduce intentional dead zones.

Microsoft has confirmed the Xbox One Elite controller release date is October 27, the same day that Halo 5: Guardians is released. The controller, which works on both Xbox One and PC, is significantly more expensive than standard controllers, coming in at £120/$150.

In addition to the features showcased above, the contoller features interchangeable rear paddles, directional pad, and hair trigger locks. Below is a list of everything that comes with the package.

  • Xbox Elite Wireless Controller
  • Carrying case
  • Set of 4 paddles
  • Set of 6 thumbsticks: standard (2), tall (2), and domed (2)
  • Set of 2 D-pads: faceted and standard
  • USB cable
  • AA batteries
  • Quick Setup Guide and Product Manual
