During its 20th Anniversary Celebration stream, Microsoft has announced a new six-part documentary series detailing the trials and tribulations the software giant faced when bringing a gaming console to the market.

Titled Power On, the documentary series will start at the root of the story, with a ragtag team of DirectX engineers trying their best to convince executives at Microsoft that a gaming console was the right move for the company. It was an idea that had a lot of pushback internally, but twenty years later, Microsoft has launched four generations of the Xbox and shows no sign of slowing down.

The documentary series will debut on December 13, with a range of current and former Microsoft employees, Xbox developers, and more featuring to tell their story. Although the story of the first Xbox has been told time and time again, it's likely that this much larger retelling will feature even more new anecdotes that are sure to surprise.
