Xbox 360 Child of Eden gets June 14 due date
Kinect-compatible version of Tetsuya Mizuguchi's latest gets release date; info on PS3 edition to be revealed later.
Ubisoft is nearly ready to spring a new bundle of joy on the gaming public. The publisher confirmed for GameSpot today that Tetsuya Mizuguchi's Child of Eden will launch on the Xbox 360 June 14. However, the release date for the PlayStation 3 edition of the game is still unknown, with a Ubisoft representative saying, "We'll have more info for the PS3 later."
Child of Eden takes its cues in large part from Mizuguchi's acclaimed rhythm shooter Rez, and it features the same style of music-enhanced shooter gameplay with psychedelic visuals. It also bears a storyline: Gamers will attempt to rescue the embattled Project Lumi, which is an effort to "reproduce a human personality inside Eden, the archive of all human memories." A virus has invaded the program, however, and players must defeat it, before all hope is lost.
The game's visual style approximates a virtual reality universe and is heavily reliant on geometric shapes in motion against an ever-shifting background. The shapes join to take on aspects of the virus, evolving from tiny single-block creatures to giant wormlike monstrosities. The game can be played with a standard Xbox 360 controller, but the box art proclaims it's "better with the Kinect sensor."
