Don't bet on seeing it anytime soon.

Superhero movies may be big box office draws, but getting them made isn't necessarily easy. Such is the case with the X-Men spinoff Gambit. Between losing a director last year, to its October 2016 release date disappearing from schedules, Fox aren't having much luck getting it into production. It has now been reported that the film has been delayed yet again.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Gambit won't start production until "the end of 2016." This is considerably later than the last anticipated start date of March. THR state that the film is undergoing rewrites, and that director Doug Liman may tackle another movie, a thriller titled The Wall, in the meantime.

Now Playing: GS News Update: X-Men Spinoff Movie Gambit Delayed Again

Gambit was originally set to be directed by Rise of the Planet of the Apes' Rupert Wyatt. He left the project last September, citing scheduling conflicts. However, a story in Deadline at the time suggested that there had been ongoing disagreements over both the script and budget.

Gambit will star Channing Tatum as the card-throwing superhero of the title, alongside Spectre's Léa Seydoux. Like Deadpool, Gambit is a character spun off from the X-Men, first appearing in a 1990 issue of The Uncanny X-Men. He appeared briefly in 2009's critically panned X-Men Origins: Wolverine, portrayed by Taylor Kitsch.
