WWE Won't Suspend Brock Lesnar After Failing Drug Tests

WWE's wellness program doesn't apply to part-time performers like Brock Lesnar, apparently.

WWE 2K17 cover star Brock Lesnar has been making headlines recently because of a pair of failed drug tests that came about after his return to the UFC. Lesnar's facing what could be a lengthy suspension from the MMA organization, but it doesn't seem like the WWE will punish him at all.

Lesnar is only a part-time performer for the WWE, which apparently means he doesn't need to follow the company's rules regarding performance enhancing drugs. A WWE spokesperson told CBS Sports that "WWE's talent wellness program does not apply to part-time performers."

This means that Lesnar's appearances on WWE's Monday night show, Raw, and PPV event Summerslam are still set to go according to plan. It's unclear if Lesnar's spot on the cover of this year's wrestling game will remain as is, but with the WWE seeming relatively unphased about the situation, it seems likely things will stay the way they are. We've contacted 2K for comment on the situation.

However, this hasn't been swept under the rug entirely by the WWE. Wrestling star Randy Orton returned on the PPV event Battleground this past Sunday to address his upcoming match with Lesnar. Orton said that although Lesnar's many suplexes could take him to Suplex City, "it only takes one RKO to get to Viperville."

"No enhancement required," he added.

Despite this remark, it still remains to be seen if Lesnar's doping becomes a central point of the two wrestlers' story line.
