WWE Reportedly Taking Over Wrestlers' Twitch Accounts, Ex-Presidential Candidate Comments

If you're a fan of watching your favorite WWE superstars play video games on Twitch, that experience could be changing soon. A new report says the comput is preparing to take control of all WWE superstar accounts.

According to Wrestling Inc. and Pro Wrestling Insider, WWE will assume control and take ownership of all superstar accounts in the next four weeks, with talent still receiving a portion of the revenue.

According to the report, failing to comply with the mandate could result in a fine, suspension or termination. Following the news, former presidential candidate Andrew Yang shared his feelings on the matter.

"This would be infuriating to me if I had spent time building up my social media channels only to have WWE take them over from their ‘independent contractors'," Yang said. "People are angry and rightfully so."

Back in September it was also reported that WWE will have talent sever ties with third party services like Twitch, Cameo, and YouTube. Later though, the company clarified stating that talent could maintain those accounts under their real names, however they would still need to inform the company of said channels.

WWE financial reports of the first quarter this year showed a 60% increase in revenue, as well as an operating income at $53.3 million as compared to a loss of $6.8 million in the prior year quarter.
