Wrong Turn Reboot Trailer Delivers Backwoods Scares

The latest movie in the cult horror series arrives next year.

The survival slasher movie Wrong Turn hit theaters back in 2003, and while it was only a modest box office success, it managed to spawn no fewer than five sequels over the next decade. It's been six years since the last entry, 2014's Wrong Turn 6: Last Resort, but the series is about to get a reboot. The first trailer for the next movie--simply titled Wrong Turn--has now been released.

The set up is familiar stuff if you've seen any of the previous entries. A group of kids are hiking in some remote mountainous woodland and take--you got it--a wrong turn. They find themselves at the mercy of a group of deranged backwoods killers--in this case, a gang calling themselves the Foundation. The trailer doesn't exactly suggest the film will be breaking any new ground, but it'll hopefully deliver the required amount of thrills and kills. Check it out below:

Wrong Turn is directed by Mike P. Nelson and written by Alan B. McElroy, who created the series. It stars Charlotte Vega (Warrior Nun), Adain Bradley (Riverdale), Bill Sage (Hap and Leondard), Emma Dumont (The Gifted), Daisy Head (Underworld: Blood Wars), and Matthew Modine (Stranger Things).

The film will premiere in theaters for one night only, on January 26, 2021. Tickets can be booked here from January 8. It'll then receive a digital release, although its on demand release date has not been announced yet.

Wrong Turn isn't the only popular slasher franchise getting a new entry in 2021. Halloween Kills hits theaters in October, and the ninth Texas Chainsaw Massacre movie is on the way too. In addition, the fifth Scream film, titled Scream, will be with us in January 2022.
