Witcher 3 Dev Responds to Fans Upset About Xbox One-Exclusive Physical Items

So they're accepting MS's bribe to make better RPGs.

And they're telling people upset about it to go S#$%! themselves.

CDPR did the right thing with this partnership. They ensure that their game gets premium advertising and the extra money they made from this can be used towards other projects. The fact that some cows are mooing in rage over this just shows how great the deal is. And they just have to accept it and move on.

Didn't they say everything was equal a few months back when they announced this collector's edition? That everything was equal, and they were disappointed they couldn't put more in the box?

i would love some of those cards, but i hope they will sell those separately later on, i will be happy with that.

When someone says "If you think this action of mine is making me a hypocrite, well, that makes me sad" instead of explaining why such a view is wrong, that's admitting that you ARE a hypocrite and worse, you know what you did was wrong.

Wow, I'm really shocked. I've come to think that CDPR could do no wrong but, while perhaps on the minor side of issues, I can't quite think of them in exactly the same way as I did before.

To all the ps4 fanboy hypocrites, there are a few games that feature exclusive items, maps and other little goodies for the ps4 but that is acceptable. I have both systems but have noticed a trend. There are a lot of ps4 fanboys that are filled with hypocrisy. You manage to be both sore losers as well as sore winners blinded by biased views. So for thoughts that happen to reside in the states perhaps you should pack your s@#$ and move to Japan. There you will be surrounded by biased gamers as well. Well biased against Microsoft. I recall that Japanese gamer wouldn't buy the original Xbox because it was to big, fast forward and here come a big, heavy brick AKA, the ps3 and they just happened to sell very, very well in Japan. Facts are facts and there are plenty to go around but lately a good chunk of ps4 fanboys have lost the ability to grasp that.

I think that CDPR was very aware that people would be unhappy with them adding a few extra items to the xbox one CE. They obviously tried to make it as small as possible, hoping that a deck of cards and a map is a small enough difference that people would not be angry about it.

Yes, I suppose it is a bit disappointing to see them giving preference, however small, to one platform, but as long as the actual content of the game remains the same across all platforms I will reserve judgement. The reality is that they have a lot riding on the success of this game. It is by far the biggest game they have done, and will be the game that makes them a true AAA studio. I almost thought I would see comments along the lines of Microsoft kinda got the short end of it, because all they got was a deck of cards and a map for extra advertising dollars.

Getting jealous of a few insignificant items really isn't worth it. The only people who have any real reason to complain are the fans who see this as a sign that in the future CDPR will become like every other developer and give exclusive game content to one platform. If that happens I am right with you. In the past they got a lot fans angry with DRM, and now they are completely DRM free where they can be like on GOG. I suspect that they will hold true to their no exclusive game content. They do listen to their fans, and changed policies accordingly in the past. I think the reaction is so strong only because people actually like CDPR as a developer. Unlike most companies out there, they still have our respect to lose, and here's to hoping that they don't.

This is more of an ad then a game news story, but it is gamespot so whatcha expect, huh. Anyways I love maps, and cloth maps. I do wood working and have made picture frames for a couple of decades, which I always make one for Skyrim, blue star silver star story, and EQ, and others I have collected over the years. I love it when guests come in my house and stop and pause at the pictures in each room, knowing they have seem that somewhere before.

I get more compliments on the frames and maps then my family photos do, which my wife hates.

To be honest, this is the same kind of first step that every developer takes when they start to sell out. Granted this is something small and isn't anything being taken from inside the game and being exclusive to xbone, but like i said, it's a first step. I don't think i've ever seen platform exclusive physical content before. CDPR is my favorite developer, so let's hope they don't fall prey to worldwide attention and all these awards that they keep winning. I can settle with exclusive physical items (though i really want that cloth map), but if they ever hold make platform exclusive game content, they'll lose a chunk of my respect, and many others'. If they ever design a game for consoles first and PORT it to PC, they will lose all of my respect. Right now, they're the number one PC developer, regardless of what anyone has to say about that.

Ps4 fans is crying about this but they had nothing but negative comments to xbox fans when bungie announced the exclusive content for destiny. Ps4 fans even cry when the xbox one gets exclusive games. My favorite games are gears of war and dead rising but that dont stop me from having a ps4 to play games Iike infamous and the last of us. My point is that yall selfish fan boys need to chill out because the ps4 is getting its share of exclusive content. Stop getting heart broken when exclusive content flow to the xbox one. Yall people have got to change for the better. If theres content you must have or games you must play for the xbox one then get a xbox one. Stop crying on twitter to these devs because thats just getting ridiculous! Its like yall begging for content and games for the ps4 like theres nothing coming out for it, SMH.

I don't get the stupid comments and complains, is not like all of you are getting the collectors edition. Most gamers will pick the standard edition, which will be the same across all platforms. Is not like you are getting less DLC, or a mission missing, is a part of the "collectors edition", not important. If console gamers weren't againts digital distribution they would get some good deal, i paid less than $50.00 for my game on gog.com The console fans, complain about everything.

I don't support anyone who aligns themselves with MS, though, so used it is after Bloodborne

I cancelled my pre-order for PC CE, and I encourage everyone who pre-ordered the PC or PS4 CE to do the same. I am sure CDPR has good reason to add those items to the XB1 CE, but the fact remains the PC and PS4 versions are now inferior for the same price. I will still buy the regular edition of the game, though, since this is only a CE issue. Buying the regular edition also feels more right since CDPR's position is that the in-game content across all platforms are equal, all who support that attitude should get the edition that most accurately reflects this attitude.
