Microsoft will hold a Windows 10 event next month called "The Next Chapter," and, while we don't know for sure yet, it sounds like there could be some gaming news revealed during the presentation.

We wouldn't normally expect a Windows 10 event to have much to do with gaming, but in Microsoft's announcement, Xbox boss Phil Spencer is listed as one of the speakers.

He'll be joined by Windows Operating Systems Group executives Terry Myerson and Joe Belfiore. All three will talk about "the Windows 10 consumer experience," though that's all we know for sure.

Earlier today, Spencer teased: "I'll be focusing more on what we are doing on Windows 10 in January. It's time for us to talk about gaming on Windows."

The event, which takes place at Microsoft's headquarters in Redmond, Washington, will be broadcast live, with full details on how you can tune in coming later.

In his role as Head of Xbox, Spencer not only oversees all Xbox gaming projects, but also everything to do with gaming inside of Microsoft. This includes PC gaming, which Spencer has time and again assured fans is "incredibly important" to Microsoft.

When Microsoft announced Windows 10 in September, it described the OS as "one platform" for all of the company's products. However, we still don't know how Windows 10 might impact Xbox One. It's possible Spencer will talk about this during the Windows 10 event next month.

Windows 8, released in October 2012, was controversial in that it introduced a touch-focused tile design that was dramatically different to Windows 7. Microsoft addressed these criticisms with frequent--and substantial updates--including Windows 8.1. The company isn't starting over with Windows 10, but Microsoft appears to be taking a more measured approach with it.

"We believe that, together with the feedback you provide us, we can build a product that all of our customers will love," Myerson said in September. "It will be our most open collaborate OS projects ever."

Windows 10 will be available for consumers in fall 2015.
